Hey yall i have a question for the computer gurus out there. How about just using [alt] + [PrtScn] to capture the active window, and then pasting that into Word?

You can also use [Ctl] + [PrtScn] to capture the desktop, if you're into that sort of thing.

Here's a free solution

Most applications allow you to print to file under file | print. There’s a box you just need to check. I don’t have to Firefox at work to verify.

If all you're looking for is text, confirmation numbers etc, you can create a Generic /Text Only printer by clicking on Add Printer in the Printers folder. ‘Print to file’ to that virtual printer and it will create a .PRN file that, since it’s only text, you can view with Wordpad.

If you need to associate the .PRN with an application, browse to or enter this path, C:\Windows\system32\print.exe

Why don't you just use PDFCreator? It's free and prints out everything to PDF.

If you don't feel like putting all your print outs in PDF though, and have Microsoft Office, I know a full Install of MS Office 2003 has what is called the Microsoft Office Document Image Writer. It prints it out in a file that is recognized by Microsoft Office Imagery, which is the Office program that reads TIFFs. It has OCR and it's easy to send it from that program to Word if needed.
