Improved Sap...

The first question I usually get asked in a group is, "Hey Precoil, do you have Improved Sap?"

So, is Improved Sap actually more important then I think it is, or do people not understand what it does?

For those of you who don't know... Imp. Sap (With 3 Points) gives you a 90% chance to return to stealth after usuing sap. It does not make your saps any more effective.

Now, don't get me wrong, if you can return to stealth after sapping someone, then sap another target, I can see how that would be useful.

The problem is, you have to sink 18 points into Subtlety to get it. And (to me) it doesn't seem worth it.

Why it's cool

The thing that's cool about it is that it keeps you from drawing agro. That way the priest isn't splitting mana between healing you and the MT. Rogues are notoriously hard to pull agro off of.

As someone who has never played the rogue class I feel compelled to reply.

In the Strat/Scholo type dungeons where even the large groups are no more than 5 MOBS I don’t see a huge need for improved sap if you have others doing crowd control in the group... Sap one, Shackle one and Sheep one. Even if you don’t go back to stealth, the remaining MOBs that spot you are the ones we wanted to pull anyway. Now if you're the only one in group with cc, I wouldn't use "non-improved" sap.

You can still feint the agro off if the tank can’t grab the MOBs right?

Yeah, that first pull at the bottom of the stairs in Scholo was usually the first place I died. :)

But lately, I'll just sap, sprint back, and wait for the tank to take aggro before joining back in, and it seems to work fine.

Feint isn't as useful as it should be. I usually just use it as a precaution right after a big finishing move. But if I actually draw enough aggro that the mob starts attacking me, I'll have to feint, stop attacking for a bit and sometimes feint again when it cools down.

But in a panic situation, that's what vanish is for... instant agro reset.

I mean, I do things that take away from my DPS if it helps the party. Like using Crippling Poison when we're dealing with runners, Mind numbing poison on casters... I'll try to stun-lock some troublesome mobs.

But over-all our job is to inflict damage! Anything you can do to help you with that job, helps the party!
