So this year my mom decided to give me the gift that says "your happiness is important to me": Cold, hard cash.

Mrs. Neubauten told me that I should not just put the money in the bank and use it to pay bills, but instead celebrate the season of reckless acquisition by gifting myself. She's so wise. So, being the ever obedient husband, I took her sage advice and bought a Logitech G15 keyboard.

It is awesome. There are 18 programmable "G keys" on the left hand side for keymapping your favorite macros, and the LCD works with the Ventrilo beta to show you who is talking while you're playing WoW. There's even a built in countdown timer (so I can keep track of how much time is left in a 45-minute baron run).

I've only had one opportunity to use it so far, but I'm already sold. My apologies to Greysea for any doubts I may have expressed about the utility of this thing. If you have the means, do yourself a favor and get one.

i would like to see this G15 cordless maybe? otherwise, i would be putting cords back on my desk... and then *pause* well i suppose i could use just the mouse part of the desktop... meh... we'll see.

I would probably agree with you, that is if I ever found myself with one in my possession, but there are 2 things that keep me from changing to something so drastic:

1. I'm in love with the split/ergonomic keyboard design. And I especially love that my Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 has comfortable padded leather hand rest as part of the keyboard design. It makes a full day of coding that much more of a pleasurable experience.

2. Because I am a touch typist, and I type a lot (programming requires that sort of thing), I need to have a standard keyboard layout between my work and home computer. Any changes really bug me, and slow me down. That's one of the reasons why I haven't bought and logitech keyboards in some time, the utility buttons above the inverted T arrow keys are laid out different then the traditional windows keyboard layout. If i bought one, I would have to buy another to take to work with me. Fortunately for me, my work keyboard is exactly the same one I have at home.

I've been thinking about getting just a USB LCD for a while now. That should keep me from having to make the move. There are a lot of places you can find these things. Usually though, they are meant to be placed in your computer, in the same place as the optical drives, but that doesn't mean you can't have it outside. Here is a good place you can look at some FrozenCPU.
